Stock Market Timings To Be Extended To 9am-5pm
Stock market traders will soon have to spend extra 2.5 hours in front of terminal, with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) giving the go-ahead for stock exchanges to extend trading hours. SEBI has okayed extension of trading hours from current IST 9:55 AM -3:30 PM to IST 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
The changes in the timing will help Indian markets trade in sync with international markets and attract international trading.
The news of extension of trading time has not been welcomed by both brokers and traders. It will put enormous amount of pressure on people working in this field, but the brokerage houses will be benefitted as the move will surge their revenue.
So, what do you think of the decision? Poll it
It is good sign that we will have extended trading hours.. Atleast this will result in higher overlapping time with London time, where many FII/ hedgies are having the base.
Probably this decision is result of their request.. IMO, This will make our market more sensitve ot global markets. As UK market opens, i.e. at 12.30/1.30 IST, within 2 or 3 hrs players start anticipating and start taking position for possible US mkt direction..and i.e by 3.30/4.30 IST.. So we might start seeing one more wave around 4.00/4.30 from FII.
So we have opening wave, then reversal of this.. and then lunch time silence of 1 or 2 hrs.. then UK mkt open impact, and then final wave of our mkt close.
Just going to give us more opportunities.. at the same time, on loosing day, if we are in habit of overtrading to recover the loss, then we might end up loosing more .. for another 2 hrs.
Think from the side of working people, it will be a huge burden. If market starts from 9AM means we have to be in office atleast half an hour prior to it, to be so if we are staying somewhat near then its ok else have to travel an hour or more, same situation after market also.
Other than trading its highly difficult to do other things like sales, meeting clients, official meetings, etc.,
I highly oppose the decision of extending the market hours.
i am not in favor of market extending time. i dont think so market liquidity will increase! even its very hectic schedule special for dealers.
